Ron Watson Harrison County Commissioner

First of all I would like to thank you for your support in allowing me to serve as your president. I must confess that at times during this journey I have questioned my leadership skills and abilities. With nearly 50 years as a public servant I felt that one of my strong suits was bringing people together, consensus building, agreeing to disagree, understanding what makes individuals do what they do, calming the over excited, changing attitudes, behaviors and opinions and the list goes on. But whenever in doubt I think of Jim Valvano’s 1993 ESPY speech, ”Don’t give up..... DON’T EVER GIVE UP!”
As a TEAM leader, that is, Together Everyone Achieves More, having 169 County Commissioners agreeing on any one issue is truly a challenge. The best that any coach could hope for is that we can agree to disagree, let the majority rule and not abort the team.
Your County Commissioners’ Association was created to promote the general interest of County Commissioners and to speak as one voice. CCA provides County Commissioners the mechanism to come together for common interests. This is “your” Association and I would encourage you to become an active participant.
In closing, let’s continue our journey as a TEAM...... together we can make a difference.
