The CCAWV Rising Star Award is an annual recognition program established in 2003 by the County Commissioners' Association of West Virginia. This award provides an opportunity for board members to honor the exceptional leadership exhibited by individuals who are not part of the Board of Directors. The award celebrates those who have gone above and beyond their regular duties to actively participate and advance the goals of the Association.

The Rising Star Award is presented to a County Commissioner who has demonstrated extraordinary commitment and dedication to preserving the responsibilities of their office. The recipient of this award must have made significant contributions to the betterment of county government in West Virginia, going above and beyond their regular duties to promote the growth and success of the community.

The award winner must have demonstrated a strong commitment to the goals of the CCAWV, working vigorously to advance its objectives and preserve the responsibilities of the county commissioner's office. Through this award, the CCAWV recognizes the critical role played by County Commissioners in advancing the goals of the Association and promoting the welfare of county government in West Virginia.

Submission deadline the 3rd Friday in April each year.
