The Shining Star Award is an annual recognition program established by the County Commissioners’ Association of West Virginia in 2021 to recognize the dedication and leadership of county commission staff members who have shown exceptional dedication to the goals of county government in West Virginia and the to celebrate their outstanding achievements.

The award is presented to a county commission staff member who:

• Has gone above and beyond their regular duties to advance the goals of the county commission.
• Has demonstrated a strong commitment to preserving the responsibilities of county government.
• Works collaboratively with fellow commissioners and staff members.
• Through their actions, the award winner should have promoted the growth and success of county government in West Virginia, highlighting the importance of cooperation, innovation, and dedication.

The Shining Star Award is a testament to the vital role played by county commission staff in advancing the goals of the county commission and recognizes their significant contributions to the betterment of county government.

Nominations are due by May 22, 2024.
