Bridging public awareness to the office of County Commissioner
For the second year in a row, a promising young student from Ming o County won the CCAWV Essay Contest. A panel of Judges read scores of submissions before selecting Aerianna McClannahan's thoughtfully written piece. Aerianna McClannahan wowed the judging panel with her impressive vocabulary and deep understanding of county government. This isn't the only honor Aerianna has garnered in recent months - she was also chosen to represent Mingo County at this year's weeklong West Virginia Ambassadors Camp.

I hope everyone made it back home safely from our Annual meeting and Auditor's training in Stonewall. Everyone should be congratulated and thanked for their attendance and input for a great conference. Thank you to Lewis County for their wonderful hospitality as hosts for the event. Thank you to First Vice President of NACo, Commissioner Riki Hokama from Maui, Hawaii, for his attendance and participation with us, letting us know that NACo is OUR organization and that we need to be involved. Riki liked it here in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia so much, I think we have him coming back again next year when we meet in Cabell County!! Thank you to Vivian, Jennifer and Megan for all that they do for us to make our jobs easier, more efficient and more effective!! Mostly, I would like to thank all of you, my fellow Commissioners, and your Administrators for being involved with our organization, CCAWV!! You are the backbone of our association and we, like NACo, are a membership driven organization!! Without all of you, we are nothing!!

The CCAWV Annual meeting was well attended and received high marks from those attending. We worked hard, lots of valuable information was shared, and we enjoyed some nice after hours events. Much thanks to our host county, the Lewis County Commission and Staff for their major efforts to our success. Congrats to all our award winners! The August Legislative Interims included financial reporting from the Regional Jail Authority Director Joe Delong, the same report that was shared at the CCAWV Annual meeting.
